Dillon Square Deal
Q. Can I load rifle and pistol calibers with the Dillon Square Deal?
A. No, the Square Deal only does pistol calibers. The 550B, 650B and Super 1050 will do both rifle and pistol.
Q. Does the Dillon Square Deal come with dies?
A. Yes the Square Deal comes with a set of dies and a conversion in the caliber you select when purchased.
Q. Can I use dies from another manufacturer like Lee, RCBS or Lyman with the Square Deal?
A. No, the dies for the Square Deal are a proprietary set of dies made especially for this model. They are not interchangeable with any other make of reloader other than the Dillon Square Deal.
Q. How many rounds can I make with Square Deal?
A. The Square Deal is rated up to 400-500 rounds per hour but this will vary upon from user to user. The rating is just an approximation advised from Dillon USA.
Q. What else do I need to load using the Square Deal?
A. The Square Deal is ready to load but you may require some accessories such as a primer flip tray and powder scales.
Q. Does Square Deal manual tell me about the loads I can use in relation to powder weights and projectiles?
A. The manual only relates to the operation of the Square Deal Press. It is essential to get a reputable and concise manual in relation to the caliber you intend on loading. See our section on reloading manuals.
Q. I need to change the caliber of my Square Deal. What do I need?
A. A Dillon Square Deal caliber conversion is required to do this. Also purchasing an optional tool head kit can make it easier when swapping from caliber to another. The tool head kit is what retains the dies in the press. By purchasing another tool head kit for each conversion you may possibly save some time in resetting your dies for each caliber.
Dillon RL550B
Q. What is the main difference between the Dillon 650B and the 550B?
A. The main difference between the 550B and 650B is the 650B is auto indexing which means the shell plate spins around as the handle is cranked up and down. The shell plate on the 650B will automatically move each case to be reloaded to the next station each time the handle is activated. On the 550B, the shell plate is moved manually though a lever, so each time you do an action e.g. place a projectile on a case, you must move the shell plate manually around with the lever. Both 650 and 500 do rifle and pistol calibers. See the caliber chart in the Dillon reloader manuals for each press in the downloads section of this web site.
Q. Can you get a case feeder for the Dillon 550B?
A. Yes there is a now a case feed kit for the 550B press. Check case feeds for the 550B in this web site. Please note a caliber change kit will be required for with the casefeeder.

A. No the electric case feed is an optional accessory.
Which is the best press for me?
Square Deal
The Dillon Squre Deal is auto indexing, which means the shell will automatically turn to the next station each timer the handle is activated. It is designed to load moderate quanitites of common handgun loads from 32sw to 45 Colt. It comes complete ready to go with dies icluded.
RL550B
The Dillon RL550B is the most versatile loader availableand is capable of loading 160 calibers. A case feed is available as an optional accessory for handgun calibers. This machine is manual indexing whioxh means the user must turn the shell plate to the next station each time the crank is pulled.
XL650B
The Dillon XL650B is the pick of the bunch of the Dillon progressive reloaders. It has auto indexing on the shell plate which means the shell will rotate ech time you activate the handle. It has the option of going for an electric case feeder for most popular pistol and rifle calibers. The tool head has an additional station for an optional powder check system.
RL1050 or Super 1050
The RL1050B is a commercial grade reloader which includes a swagger to remove the crimp from military primer pockets and is capable of reloading all the common handgun and rifle calibers. The electric case feeder is included with the RL1050 press. If you need to load a lot of ammo this will make the process easier. A good option for the serious competitor or commercial ammunition manufacturer.

What is the Dillon Warranty
Q How long is the Dillon warranty?
A. The reloading machines have a limited lifetime warranty but all Dillon electrical items have a one year warranty.
Q. I have a Dillon part that is broken. Where do I go to get a replacement?
A. Parts can be obtained direct from NVT Pty Ltd by calling 0893137444. Contact NVT at support@nvt.com.au for further information. Freight charges may apply in sending warranty replacements. Replacement parts can also be obtained direct from Dillon USA. You can email Dillon USA at tech@dillonprecision.com. Freight charges will apply from the USA.
Other General Questions
Q. The electrical plug on my case feed does not fit the Australian inlet. Why is this?
A. All of the electrical units that come from Dillon USA have the wrong plug on them. They require changing to the Australian plug. The case feeds we import are all 220V versions.
Q. How Many Rounds Can They Make?
A. Dillon USA has advised the approximate production rating for the Dillon reloading machines are as follows. Individual rates may vary. Square Deal 400-500 rounds per hour, RL550B 500-600 rounds per hour, RL650B 800-1000 rounds per hour.
Q. Can I use other brands of dies in Dillon reloaders?
A. The Dillon 550B, 650B and Super 1050 use the standard 7/8" dies. Most 7/8" dies can be used in these reloaders. The Square Deal Machines are different and not compatible with 7/8" dies. The Dillon dies for the Square Deal must be used and are generally purchased in a Square Deal conversion kit.
Q. What is a Powder Check System?
A. The powder check system monitors the level of the powder which has been delivered by the powder measure system into the ammunition case. If no powder has been thrown, an alarm will sounds to let you know there is a problem. Read the specification sheet from Dillon in relation to the correct usage of this product.
Q. How do I reload ammunition?
A. We recommend the purchase of a reputable and reliable reloading manual for instructions on methods of reloading. Always take careful precautions in reloading. The reloading manuals that come with Dillon reloaders provided by Dillon USA are instruction manuals on using the Dillon reloaders and not specifications on making ammuntion. |
