Dillon Reloader Packages

Why choose a reloader package?

Many of our customers are buying reloading equipment for the first time and the common question arises "What do I need to be able to start loading ammunition"

To answer this question we need to consider how much is your budget. Some sport shooters have just purchased their first firearm and can be a little cash strapped. In this situation I would go for the basic starter package that will get you going and in most cases can be added to later on if you need to crank out a few extra rounds in a short space of time.

If you are looking at pistol calibers only, in a starter package, I would consider the square deal package. The square deal does most common pistol calibers from 32sw to 45 long colt. Most common calibers used here are 9mm, 38super, 38 Special and 44 magnum. If you want to check if your caliber is included in the list, go to the square deal product and check the drop down menu in that product listed to see what calibers can be selected.

The square deal is rated to 400 rounds an hour in product but keep it in mind that you may not do this from day one. You need to become proficient in using the reloading press before getting to this level. Do not be in a hurry reloading. Reloading can be dangerous so check your loading manuals, instruction videos and most important if you have any doubts about the reloading process ask questions from the right people. So the square deal package will get you going. All you need to purchase is the consumables like cases, primers, powders, projectiles etc. We do not sell these and you may consider getting these locally from your gun dealer as shipping of these consumables can be an expensive process.

Do you need to load pistol and rifle in a starter package? If you need to do both rifle and pistol, then the square deal will NOT do the job. Choosing either the 550B or 650B are good options. These reloaders will do most common calibers. Check the drop down menu next to the product listed to confirm what calibers are available.

What is the difference between the 650 and 550?

The basic difference is the 550 is a 4 stage reloader and the 650 is a 5 stage reloader. Having the extra stage can be handy if you want to do something extra like having a powder check system, projectile feeder or a manual powder throw system. There are many things that can be adapted to the 650 in the extra stage or station. In addition to the extra stage, the 650 can be adapted with an electric case feeder to speed up the process of reloading. The 650 case feeder will automatically feed empty cases into the reloading machine saving time in the process. Note: there are case feeds assemblies also available for the 550B reloader as well BUT the assembly costs a little bit more and the calibers it can do are very limited. If you are definitely considering the casefeed option now or in the future, I would suggest the 650 reloader as the best starting point.

If money is no object and you want all the goodies now, go for the complete package.
